Türkiye’de meetpoint faceting tekniği ile değerli taş kesimi yapan ilk ve tek atölye olan Nehir Taş Takı Atölyesi 2006 yılı nisan ayında açıldı.

Kendisinin değerli taşlara ve mücevherlere olan ilgisiyle ,2000 yılında taşların doğal kristal formlarıyla oluşan koleksiyonuyla , değerli taş kolleksiyoneri olarak başlamıştır.
Doğal haldeki bir taşın mücevher taşına dönüşümünü merak ederek araştırmalar yapmış ;fakat ülkemizde faset kesimci olmadığını ,satılan bütün taşların yurtdışından getirtildiğini öğrenmiş ve bu işi yapabileceğini düşünerek bir girişimcilik örneği sergilemiş, Amerika’dan bir taş faset kesim makinası getirterek ,yabancı kaynaklardan okuduklarını uyarlayarak bu uzun, zor,zahmetli işi kendi kendine öğrenmiştir.
Üyesi olduğu Usfacetersguild (Amerikan Taş Kesimciler Birliği)’nin her yıl düzenlenen taş kesim yarışmalarına ülkemizi temsil eden tek taş kesim sanatçısı olarak katılmış;
2007 yılında Novice kategoride 6.
2008 yılında Premaster kategorisinde dünya birincisi olmuş , usta seviyesinde yarışmaya hak kazanmıştır.
2012 yılında Master kategoride 100 puan üstünden 97.226 puan alarak dünya üçüncü olmuştur .
Bu dalların hepsinde derece ve sertifika alan ilk ve tek Türk’dür.

I fell in love gemstones and gem minerals in the year 2000 after that I started to wonder how these gemstones turn into jewelry. Curiosity was growing in me and in 2002 we bought a faceting machine I started faceting, trial and error was my technique in the beginning . My Husband’s translations and my questions to the group and to faceters all around the world helped me a lot. As there are no faceters close to me. Maybe totally 5 faceters in a country of 75 million inhabitants.
I opened my studio at year 2006 at an old Sailor’s inn second floor at Konak in Izmir city, a chair a table and my Facetron. Even though the production quality, and art of gold is really high esteem in Turkey – country that carries all experiences of the ancient civilizations- it did not take too long for me to realize the use of gemstones, quality and knowledge about gemstones is less than poor in the country. After I won United States Faceters Guild Premasters Single Stone competition at year 2008 helped me to realize that what I am doing is right. As when I say meetpoint faceting to “Stone Masters” here they were just looking at me in the eye meaninglessly. So I was not only cutting repairing or selling but more than that I was teaching them; what is what and how to behave to the gemstones, jewelry, or how to repair them. It takes time for someone to understand that he or she cannot polish a whole 10cts diaspore gemstone in an hour with an hand dremel, nor I do not use laser beam to cut them, or there is no magic solution to polish a sapphire in an hour.
I had multi opportunities in media to tell something that gemstones are real, faceting is fun and scientific. Gemstones are valuable because they are just beautiful or/and rare, of course if they are meetpoint faceted they are more valuable. I was never at the healy bealy side of gems and minerals. I became news at nearly every newspaper local or countrywide and at many websites too. I am still telling people what a meetpoint faceting is. I am selling all kind of gemstones of all cutting techniques and also selling minerals and rocks at my studio here in İzmir Turkey. I am designing custom jewelry (according to the demand silver or gold) , faceting custom gemstones, repairing gemstones and recutting gemstones. I have faceted most of the gem minerals from fire opal to sapphire. I mostly facet natural rough. My favorites gems to facet are aquamarine, tourmaline, tanzanite and topaz.I became third at masters’ category at United States Faceters Guild Masters Single Stone competition at year 2012.
